1. Read the text given below and answer the following questions :

The people were too stunned to speak in the beginning. Later they clamoured wildly, shouting and crying. They jostled one another in a stampede to break into the house. They calmed a little when it was announced that they would be allowed to see Gandhiji before the funeral.

When one is faced with the shock of a loved one's death, one whimpers : "What will become of me now that he has left me?" This was surely the question uppermost in the mind of the mourning people. They looked like lost children.

 

A. Complete the following sentences with information from the text :

 

(1) The people jostled one another in a stampede to break into the house.

(ii) The question uppermost in the mind of the mourning people.

 

B. Write ‘T' for True and 'F' for False in the boxes provided against each sentence and also write the supporting statements (S.S):

2. Read the passage given below and answer the following questions:

 

Electronic Mail or shortly e-mail is a modern method of instant delivery of letters without the involvement of a postman. In this system of mailing, messages are sent with the help of a computer.

It is then sent to the addressee through a computer network in the form of electrical signals. The addressee may be anywhere in the world but he should also have a computer with an electrical mail system. The contents of the transmitted letter or documents get displayed on the screen of the computer of the addressee, If he desires, he can get the message printed. If the addressee iş absent the transmitted matters will be automatically stored in the computer memory. When he returns, the computer will give an indication that some unread mails are waiting for him.

6. Write a letter to your father who has been transferred to Pune informing him about all the family members. You may use the following hints : (100 words)
