The author and the text:

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) was an American essayist, lecturer, and poet. His famous poems include 'Concord Hymn' and 'Brahma'.

The poem describes a conversation between the squirrel and the mountain. The squirrel points out that in this world every being, living or non-living, big or small, have their individual reasons for existence.

কবিতাটি কাঠবিড়ালি এবং পাহাড়ের মধ্যে কথোপকথনের বর্ণনা দেয়। কাঠবিড়ালি এটি দেখায় যে এই পৃথিবীতে প্রতিটি সত্তার, জীবিত বা প্রাণহীন, বড় বা ছোট, অস্তিত্বের স্বতন্ত্র কারণ রয়েছে।

The mountain and the squirrel 

​পাহাড় আর কাঠবিড়ালি

Had a quarrel: ​

ঝগড়া হয়েছিল:

And the former called the later “little prig”.

​আগের-টি পরেরটি-কে   "ছোট্ট prig"বলে ডাকে

Bun replied, ​

“বান” উত্তর দিল,

“You are doubtless very big; ​

“তুমি নিঃসন্দেহে অনেক বড়;

But all sorts of things and weather ​

তবে সব ধরণের জিনিস এবং আবহাওয়া

Must be taken in together, ​

অবশ্যই একসাথে নেওয়া উচিত/ দরকার,

To make up a year ​

এক বছর তৈরি করার জন্য/সম্পূর্ণ করার জন্য

And a sphere. ​

And I think it no disgrace ​

এবং আমি ইহা কোন লাঞ্ছনা বা অপমান মনে করি না

To occupy my place.​

আমার জায়গা দখল করতে।

If I am not so large as you, ​

আমি যদিও তোমার মতো এত বড় নই/

আমি যদি তোমার মত এত বড় নাও       

You are not so small as I,

তুমিও আমার মতো এত ছোট নও,

And not half so spry. ​

এবং অর্ধেকও এত জীবন এবং শক্তি পূর্ণ নও।

I’ll not deny you make 

আমি অস্বীকার করব না​ যে তৈরি করেছ

A very pretty squirrel track; 

খুব সুন্দর কাঠবিড়ালি পদচিহ্ন/ চিহ্ন/ পথ;​

Talents differ; all is well and wisely put;

প্রতিভা পৃথক/ ভিন্ন; সমস্ত কিছু ভাল এবং বিজ্ঞতার সঙ্গে স্থাপন করা

If I cannot carry forests on my back, ​

আমি যদি আমার পিঠে বন বহন করতে না পারি

Neither can you crack a nut

না আপনি বাদাম ভাঙতে সক্ষম ।
