John Clare 

The poet and the text:

 

John Clare (1793-1864) was an English poet famous for his celebratory representations of the English countryside and his lamentation of its disruption. Some of his notable collections of poetry are First Love, Snow Storm, The Village Minstrel and Other Poems, etc. 

The following poem presents a pen-picture of the mellow beauty of autumn in the countryside. As this season comes just before winter, it is characterized by falling leaves, bare branches, and strong winds.

 

জন ক্লেয়ার (১৭৯৩-১৮৬৪) একজন ইংরেজী কবি যিনি বিখ্যাত ছিলেন উদযাপনী অনুষ্ঠানে ইংল্যাণ্ডের গ্রামাঞ্চলের উপস্থাপনা এবং এটির চূর্ণবিচূর্ণ অবস্থা হওয়ার জন্য তাঁর অনুশোচনা অনুভব করা বা প্রকাশ করার জন্য । তাঁর কয়েকটি উল্লেখযোগ্য কাব্যগ্রন্থ হ'ল First Love, Snow Storm, The Village Minstrel এবং অন্যান্য কবিতা ইত্যাদি।

The Text

I love the fitful gust that shakes 

আমি ভালোবাসি অনিয়মিত আকস্মিক দমকা বাতাস যা কাঁপায়

 

The casement all day, 

সারাদিন গরাদহীন জানলা,

 

And from the mossy elm-tree takes

এবং শৈবালপূর্ণ এলম গাছ(ইওরোপের একধরনের বৃক্ষ)থেকে

 

The faded leaves away, 

বিবর্ণ পাতা দূরে,

 

Twirling them by the window pane 

সেগুলিকে জানালার ফলক দ্বারা পাক খাওয়ান হচ্ছে

 

With thousand others down the lane. 

আরও হাজারে হাজারে গলিতে পরে আছে।

 

I love to see the shaking twig

আমি কম্পিত শাখা দেখতে খুব পছন্দ করি

 

Dance till the shut of eve

সন্ধ্যাকাল বন্ধ হওয়ার আগে পর্যন্ত নাচ

 

The sparrow on the cottage rig,

চড়ুই পাখিটি তার  সজ্জিত কুটিরে

 

Whose chirp would make believe

যার কিচিরমিচির শব্দ বিশ্বাস আনবে

 

That spring was just now flirting by

সেই বসন্তটি এখন সবেমাত্র প্রেমের অভিনয় করছে

 

In summer's lap with flowers to lie.

ফুলের সাথে গ্রীষ্মের কোলে শুয়ে আছে।

 

I love to see the cottage smoke

আমি কুটির থেকে নির্গত ধোঁয়া দেখতে পছন্দ করি

 

Curl upwards through the naked trees,

কুণ্ডলী আকারে নগ্ন গাছগুলির মধ্যে দিয়ে ঊর্ধ্বে ধাবমান

The pigeons nestled round the cote  

কবুতর গুলি স্থিতঅবস্থা চারপাশে বাসা বেঁধেছিল

 

On dull November days like these;

এই রকমই কোনও এক নিস্তেজ নভেম্বর দিনে;

 

The cock upon the dung-hill crowing,

গোবর পাহাড়ের উপরে মোরগ ডাকছিল,

 

The mill sails on the heath a-going.

মিলটি চলল ঊষর প্রান্তরের দিকে।

 

The feather from the raven's breast

কাকের বুক থেকে পালক গুলি

 

Falls on the stubble lea,

খসে পড়ল তৃণক্ষেত্রের নাড়া গুলির উপরে

 

The acorns near the old crow's nest 

ওক গাছের ফল গুলি পুরানো কাকের বাসাটির কাছে

 

Fall pattering down the tree;

গাছে থেকে নিচে ছিটকে পড়ল টুপ টুপ করে;

 

The grunting pigs, that wait for all,

ঘোঁৎ ঘোঁৎ শব্দ করা শূকরগুলি, যারা সবার জন্য অপেক্ষা করে,

 

Scramble and hurry where they fall. 

ঠেলাঠেলি এবং হুড়োহুড়ি করে একত্র হচ্ছিল যেখানে তারা ভূপতিত হয়ে পড়ে।
