Rewrite the following sentences using Future Continuous Tense. One is done for you:


• We shall watch the cricket match on the television .

• Ans: We shall be watching the cricket match on the television.

i) The students will shout when the teacher comes.

Ans. The students will be shouting when the teacher comes.

ii) The girls will dance on the stage in the evening.

Ans. The girls will be dancing on the stage in the evening.

iii) Mother will work in her office.

Ans. Mother will be working in her office.

 

ACTIVITY 2

 

Write antonyms of the underlined words and rewrite the sentences:


i) Some clothes were damp when I went to the backyard.

Ans. Some clothes were dry when I went to the backyard. ii) The leaves of the mango tree look dirty.

Ans. The leaves of the mango tree look clean.

iii) The children were happy to see the stranger.

Ans. The children were sad to see the stranger.


ACTIVITY 3

 

Add suitable suffix or prefix to the given words in the list and fill in the blanks to complete the sentences:


i) Tanima buys a fashionable bag from the supermarket.

ii) It was impossible to catch the deer for the hunter.

Read the passage carefully and answer the questions that follow:

Refreshed, he looked around. An old man sat on a wall by the Persian wheel. He looked at the old man, wanting to say something but hesitated. Finally, he asked, " Did the clouds come here?" The old man looked closely at him and said, "Son, when the clouds come, the earth and the sky know of their coming." "But the clouds were here last night and no one got to know." The old man said, " It is not enough for the clouds to come. I once lived in a place where it hadn't rained for ten years." "Ten years?" He was open mouthed. He sat there listening to his tales. Suddenly, he realized how late it was. He walked for miles in the sun and the dust. He went back by the same dirt track he had taken to come there. The sun was still fiercely hot but when he reached the mud hut, he felt a nip in the air and the earth was damp underfoot.

 

ACTIVITY 1


Write T for the True sentences and F for False sentences. Quote supporting phrases/sentences for your answers:


i) The boy sat on a wall by the Persian wheel. F

Supporting Phrases/Sentences:   An old man sat on a wall by the Persian wheel.

ii) According to the boy everybody got to know that the clouds were there last night.  F

Fill in the blanks with suitable words from the list given below. One extra word is given:

In the last summer vacation, I went on a trekking with my parents. On the way heavy snowfall started. We spent some anxious moments under a tree. Our guide offered us hot coffee from his thermos flask.

ACTIVITY 3


Imagine yourself in an express train. It is midnight. One of your co-passengers who is travelling alone suddenly has got high fever. Now write in about 80 words on what you should do at this moment:

Ans. I was travelling from Malda to Kolkata in a train. It was midnight. I saw an old man near my berth. He was shivering. I asked him why he was shivering. He told me that he was not feeling well and he had fever. I decided to help him in his poor condition. I covered him with a blanket to make him feel warm.  I put a wet towel on his forehead to reduce the temperature of his body. Consequently, it helped a lot. He felt better. He thanked me.
