About the Poet and Poem ::

Robert Browning (1812-1889) was an English poet and playwright from the nineteenth century. Browning's major works include The Last Ride Together, My Last Duchess, Fra Lippo Lippi. The Pied Piper of Hamelin is a famous children's verse written by him.

In the poem, the poet describes a journey that ends in a secret meeting between lovers. The poet describes the journey and the meeting in detail. The poem concludes with the delighted meeting of the lovers by a farm near the sea beach.

কবি ও কবিতা সম্পর্কে ::

রবার্ট ব্রাউনিং (১৮১২-১৮৮৯) ঊনবিংশ শতাব্দীর একজন ইংরেজ কবি এবং নাট্যকার ছিলেন। ব্রাউনিংয়ের প্রধান কাজগুলির মধ্যে অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিল The Last Ride Together, My Last Duchess, Fra Lippo Lippi. The Pied Piper of Hamelin তাঁর লেখা একটি বিখ্যাত শিশুদের কবিতা।

কবিতায়, কবি এমন একটি যাত্রা বর্ণনা করেছেন যা প্রেমীদের মধ্যে একটি গোপন সভায় শেষ হয়। কবি যাত্রা ও সভার বিস্তারিত বর্ণনা দিয়েছেন। কবিতাটি সমুদ্র সৈকতের কাছে একটি খামারে প্রেমিকপ্রেমিকাদের আনন্দিত মিলনের মধ্য দিয়ে শেষ হয়েছে।

SUMMARY (সারসংক্ষেপ) ::

In his poem, Browning describes the journey to the clandestine meeting between two lovers. The poem is divided into two stanzas of six lines each. The first stanza describes a journey by boat through the grey sea towards a stretch of black land. There is a yellow half- moon in the sky. The speaker sails through choppy waves. Then the boat is pushed up on the soft sand of an inlet. 

The second stanza talks about the actual meeting place of the lovers. Beyond three fields, a tap from the outside on a window pane and the igniting of a match, announces the arrival of the lover. In the excitement of the meeting, the lovers' hearts beat louder than their whispered voices.

 

সারসংক্ষেপ ::

ব্রাউনিং তাঁর কবিতায় দুই প্রেমিকের মধ্যে গোপন বৈঠকের যাত্রা বর্ণনা করেছেন। কবিতাটি প্রতিটি ছয় লাইনের দুটি স্তম্ভে বিভক্ত হয়েছে। প্রথম স্তবকটি ধূসর সমুদ্রের মধ্য দিয়ে কৃষ্ণ ভূমির প্রান্তের দিকে নৌকায় করে ভ্রমণের বর্ণনা দেয়। আকাশে হলুদ অর্ধচন্দ্র রয়েছে। বক্তা অস্থির তরঙ্গ মধ্যে দিয়ে যাত্রা করেন। তারপরে নৌকাটি একটি খাঁড়ির নরম বালির উপরে ঠেলে তোলা হয়।

দ্বিতীয় স্তবকটি প্রেমীদের প্রকৃত মিলনের স্থান সম্পর্কে কথা বলে। তিনটি ক্ষেত্রের বাইরে, একটি জানালার ফলকের বাইরে থেকে একটি মৃদু আঘাত এবং একটি দেশলাই এর জ্বলে উঠা প্রেমিকের আগমন ঘোষণা করে। সভার উত্তেজনায়, প্রেমীদের হৃত্স্পন্দন তাদের ফিস্ ফিস্ করা স্বরের চেয়ে বেশি উচ্চরব ছিল। 

THE TEXT ::

The grey sea and the long black land;

ধূসর সমুদ্র এবং দীর্ঘ কৃষ্ণভূমি;

And the yellow half-moon large and low;

এবং হলুদ অর্ধচন্দ্র বৃহৎ এবং নিম্ন;

And the startled little waves that leap

আর চমকে ওঠা ছোট্ট ঢেউগুলি যেগুলি লাফিয়ে উঠে

In fiery ringlets from their sleep,
