Summary of the story:
The English short story titled Father's Help is written by the famous Indian English language writer RK Narayan. In this story, he expresses the mentality of a boy who goes to school. In this story, he has also represented the boy's thoughts about his teacher.
In this short story, he highlights the need for an understanding between parents and children and the importance of the ideal teacher-student relationship. At the beginning of the story, we see the protagonist Swaminathan lying to his mother that he has a headache. Since he showed reluctance to go to school. His mother kindly told him to stay home.
The boy was able to convince his mother. But, for his angry father, his fate takes another turn. He told a false story about his teacher Samuel that he often scolds the students. After hearing all this, his stubborn father forced Swami to go to school with a letter addressed to the principal.
On the way to school, the husband thought he was probably the worst boy in the world. There was no evidence in his mind of Samuel's cruelty. So he decided to deliver the letter at the end of the day. When the husband came to her classroom, Samuel was teaching arithmetic.
Out of all his expectations, Samuel lets him enter the class. At the end of the day, Samuel hurried to the principal's room to deliver the letter to the principal but found the room locked. The Peon informed him that the principal would be on leave for a week. Hearing this, he left the place. Back home, Swami returned the letter to his father. Father tore the letter into pieces and commented that you deserve your Samuel.

ফাদারস হেল্প শিরোনামের ইংরেজি ছোট গল্পটি, বিখ্যাত ভারতীয় ইংরেজি ভাষার লেখক আর কে নারায়ণ এর লেখা। স্কুলে যাওয়া একটি ছেলের মানসিকতার প্রকাশ করেছেন তিনি এই গল্পে। তার শিক্ষক মহাশয় সম্পর্কে ছেলেটির যে ভাবনা তারও বহিঃপ্রকাশ তিনি করেছেন এই গল্পে।
তিনি এই ছোট গল্পটিতে, পিতামাতা এবং শিশুদের মধ্যে একটি বোঝাপরার প্রয়োজনীয়তা এবং আদর্শ শিক্ষক-ছাত্র সম্পর্কের গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরেছেন। গল্পের শুরুতে, আমরা দেখতে পাই গল্পের নায়ক স্বামীনাথন, তার মাকে মিথ্যা বলে যে তার মাথা ব্যাথা আছে। সে যেহেতু স্কুলে যেতে অনীহা দেখিয়েছিল। তার মা উদার ভাবে বলেছিলেন তাকে বাড়িতে থাকতে ।
ছেলেটি তার মাকে বোঝাতে সক্ষম হয়েছিল। কিন্তু, তার রাগী বাবার জন্যে, তার ভাগ্য অন্য দিকে মোড় নেয়। সে তার শিক্ষক স্যামুয়েল সম্পর্কে একটি মিথ্যা গল্প বলেছিল যে তিনি ছাত্রদের খুব বাকাবকি করেন। সব শুনে তার অনড় বাবা অধ্যক্ষ এর উদ্দেশ্য করে একটি চিঠি দিয়ে স্বামীকে স্কুলে যেতে বাধ্য করেন।
স্কুলে যাওয়ার পথে, স্বামীর মনে হয়েছিল যে সেই হয়তো বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে খারাপ ছেলে। তার মনে স্যামুয়েলের নিষ্ঠুরতার কোন প্রমান ছিল না। তাই সে দিন শেষে চিঠিটি পৌঁছে দেওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়। স্বামী যখন তার শ্রেণীকক্ষে এসেছিল, স্যামুয়েল তখন পাটিগণিত পড়াচ্ছিলেন।
তার সমস্ত প্রত্যাশার বাইরে, স্যামুয়েল তাকে ক্লাসে প্রবেশ করতে দেন। দিনের শেষ সময়ে, স্বামী বাবার দেওয়া চিঠিটি অধ্যক্ষকে দেওয়ার জন্য তাড়াহুড়ো করে অধ্যক্ষ এর ঘরে গেল, কিন্তু ঘরটি তালাবদ্ধ দেখতে পেল। পিয়ন তাকে জানাল যে অধ্যক্ষ এক সপ্তাহের জন্য ছুটিতে থাকবেন। এ কথা শুনে সে ঘটনাস্থল থেকে চলে যায়। বাড়ি ফিরে স্বামী চিঠিটি বাবাকে ফিরিয়ে দিয়েছিল। বাবা চিঠিটি টুকরো টুকরো করে মন্তব্য করেছেন যে তুমি তোমার স্যামুয়েল-এর উপযুক্ত হও।
